Thursday linkfest
- Baby boomers vs. Generation Y. Interesting post comparing birthrates of two generations and two nations: The U.S. and the UK.
- Timelapsed trip through the Panama Canal. I’m always a sucker for a good time lapsed video, especially involving super amazing construction projects.
- What scientific papers really mean. I really hate the writing style common in academic papers. This little comic gem translates what paper author’s are really saying.
- Whitespace by example. There’s a great comparison here of two different ways to present the same ad, and the differ mostly by how they use whitespace. Illustrates the basic idea better than any essay could.
- Literary deathmatch: The Brothers Karamazov. Among other cool things to be found at cecil vortex, such as great interviews with real creatives, is a little program for getting people to read intimidating classics. Up right now is the Brother’s Karamazov.
- Ignite video about Cup Noodle. First, I love ignite videos. Second, the story of Cup Noodle is awesome. Third there is an amazing comic book about the history of Cup Noodle.
The “Interpreting Statements in Scientific Papers” gave me a good laugh, my favorite being:
“Three samples were selected for detailed study”
Because the other ones sucked!
