This blog: weekly situations – yay or nay
I run two discussion mailing lists – one on design and usability (uxclinic) and one on project management (pmclinic).
Question: In the past I’ve posted the weekly situations here on the blog. Sometimes people post comments on ’em, but often they just sit there taking up space.
I’m thinking now that if you’re into the situations, you’re on the list and don’t need me to annoy you with them here. I did it before to help promote the lists, but they’re off the ground now.
So if you do want these situations posted, speak up now. If I don’t get a few votes for doing it, I’ll stop.
Yay. Please do keep posting them here. I read this blog via RSS, and don’t intend to join any email list, but I am very interested in the weekly summaries.
An alternative, maybe, is to have a separate RSS feed for the summaries.
Yeah, the situations are good. Unless there’s a feed for subscribing to them separately, keep reposting please!
There’s more of course. Vision documents in large companies are usually burdened with trying to unify all of the different charters, mandates and notions the organization has. It becomes like a bowl of spaghetti – even a good author, so burdened with objectives and mission statements, will struggle write something anyone will want to read.
So instead of the victory condition being “Define strategic goals in terms the entre team understands and can deliver on” – which is attainable – the unspoken victory condition is “allow every VP or group manager to feel that they are represented”.
Yes, I enjoy the weekly situations, please keep posting
Keep posting,Scott.
