Thank you Scott for your generous approach to sharing knowledge that you have gleaned and put together in an extremely absorbable way! I have just written a book on presentations for the purpose of our competitors in the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) Caribbean, of which I am a founding committee member. I am about to prepare a workshop for the first time but have given training following (IBM AS400’s) software implementation and I started life in TV advertising as a kid in the sixties with Shirley Bassey’s husband who was a Pearl & Dean producer. I also spent time as a demonstrator or a Pitchman, as you call them in the US learning much of my skills there.
I am about to provide further training the Trinidad’s National Energy Skills Centre’s management team. They are now the third country in the world with their own real full-size drilling-rig for training purposes only, and just brought back from Texas.
Our firm is expecting to be drilling exploratory wells for the Haiti government soon and hopefully also involved in building a new city and deep port to take the new PANAMAX 13,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU) in Q1/14. We are a very small local but smart company, but hope to bring positive changes to Haiti using local nationals where possible and help with training its people and do it commercially, with love!

Thanks for the copy of Mindfire. I’m not sure how/why I got into the loop, but the text is an interesting and easy read. Philosophically, I don’t disagree with your observations, points or conclusions. I didn’t find any startling revelations. I had fun reading though the stream of consciousness. Everything was so familiar, I might swear this was a collection of thoughts I’d shared on random forums and forgotten about. It was fun to sort though the attic of your mind.

So let’s see — you’ve read all the same books as me, seen all the same movies as me, and you even listen to the same music as me… most uncanny. Apparently, you have the same thoughts as me, as well… I will say one thing, though – on the issue of faith: I go out of my way not to believe in anything at all — not just from a religious standpoint, but extended to all things around me: in my mind, in that moment in which I believe (incontrovertibly) in something, I lose the ability to learn anything about it: from my point of view, one should never stop learning — I like to apply the term “legally dead” to people who do… The book is fascinating: it’s as though you’ve taken all my thoughts, organized them and written them down.
