Thanks for watching

Just wanted to thank everyone that watched the broadcast online – thanks for tuning in. I had fun and hopefully kept you awake, if not entertained. We had almost 500 people, which I’m told is a record.

In a few days the ondemand version of the program will be up here – so anyone can watch it at any time. I’ll post when it’s ready.

Did you really have to say “next slide” every time? Don’t they have a tool to let you be in the driver’s seat instead of your host? That and the banter was more than a little distracting, although the presentation itself was excellent.

Yes, the system they use requires i say next slide. I literally did not have control of the slide deck, and there was a person who’s job it was to move the slides. I didn’t particularly like it either (although the folks at CMP/DDJ were great), but I tried to talk over the transitions as best I could.

If you filled out their survey form I hope you mentioned this to them. I’ll pass it on if you didn’t.

    Cheers – thanks for watching.

Actually, the survey came up in a pop-up, which IE promptly nuked (which made me quite happy), which then caused the presentation page to reload and the stream to restart, but I never saw the survey. Go figure.

No worries then – I’ll pass the comment on for ya :)

And about the banter: I’d never done a live presentation before that had these polling questions mixed in. Given the chance to do this again I’d make different use of the questions, and handle talking over them (which, btw, isn’t easy) differently. The feel we ended up with (I think) was part radio show, part presentation, and I next time I’d be smoother about handling it all.
