It’s Novel writing month: join NaNoWriMo!
This Thursday marks the beginning of national novel writing month – That’s right. A bunch of crazy people write an entire novel in 30 days (~1500 words per day, for 50,000 total). It’s a fun crazy thing, a chance to be bad, and I’m doing it this year.
You can sign up at their website, get moral support, tons of advice, a word count tracking tool, a FAQ, and other bits that help you start and keep going (Here’s my advice on the subject: Writing hacks part 1).
If you do join up, make me a buddy: my username is berkun.
Hello Berkun!
What a great idea. I can’t believe I found this, your blog and this entry, while I was busy shaking that red herring (writer’s block) in my beak. Having a few finals, project writeups and a final thesis to finish should not keep me from doing this. It might be the perfect thing. Like a mental gym. A wordsmith gym. Ya. I’m so glad I found your blog. Can I add your blog link to my blog?
Great stuff. Thanks for sharing. Nina.
I know this post is from a while ago but did you ever share what you had written? Did you find it was worth while / productive? I was thinking about trying it this year and seeing how well I can do.
I did not post what I had written – I’m better at advertising this particular challenge than I am at participating in it.
