Signed copy of The Year Without Pants to First 10 commenters
Hi folks. Its been a long time since I gave things away.
Some of you subscribe directly by email (“Get Posts Instantly” in the sidebar) or RSS to every single post. That’s swell of you.
As a small token of thanks you get the first shot at this. I won’t hit the social media thingies until later today.
The first 10 people (in North America, sorry rest of planet) to leave a comment will get a signed copy of The Year Without Pants, an Amazon.com best book of 2013.
Bonus: I’ll also pick another 5 additional commenters at random to get a book, so if you’re late, leave a comment anyway. You might still win!
Thanks for reading and supporting my work.
So excited for this book. Love the work and ready to integrate this into my own setting!
I read and loved the book, but would love to have had a signed copy. Sadly I am in Portugal. Best of luck to all participants!
I might make an exception in honor of Hugo Baeta, my friend from Portgual. Stay tuned.
I heard your talk in Boston at the UI18 conference (it was awesome) and I can’t wait to read the book!
I am interested in reading this book, and it would be cool to get a signed copy.
coolio! thank you thank you. btw, one of the books you will write should be a kid’s book (i was serious before) cheers, liz
There’s a joke in there somewhere that all my books are kids books :)
Oddly enough I read The Giving Tree for the first time a few weeks ago. There are big gaps in my childhood reading apparently.
nah, i didn’t like that one!
check out anything by roald dahl and these:
the diary of a church mouse by graham oakley
the merchant of marvels by frederic clement
ounce dice trice by alastair reid
moominpapa books by tove jansson
i have a few ideas for you if you want to toss around on email
I have your project management books, and appreciate the new approach you took with this one. Thanks for posting the offer.
If you’ve read my project management work you’ll find this fascinating as I’m put to the test in every way.
What a provocative title
I gave my copy to my brother in London. Would love to get this back and give it another read!
I can’t let this opportunity go. I was looking forward to reading this book and it would be great to get a signed copy.
Great book! I’m starting to work with distributed teams and this has helped me about the best way to do it effectively.
Argh…. I missed it apparently! Not quick enough on the trigger! It’s still at the top of my books to pick up and share with the office after I’m done reading it though!
-Melissa
Perhaps not – I just added a note that I’ll give more copies away to comments chosen at random. So you’re in the running!
Hooray! It’s Friday so I’ll take all the good news I can get! I just recommend your blog/writing to someone I have been coaching!
I think I am too late! Bummer, I bought the book and gave it away. :-( I have recommended the book more times than I can count.
I already have the book and I loved it.
I’m from EMEA, so I don’t expect the book, yet I would say, when I would win one, I would ask you to give it away to some people in university who are living of welfare, like I did when I studied. I never had money for extra books. so these people need it more then anyone else I think…
Thanks Yves. That’s a good suggestion – I did that once years ago.
Hi Scott–
A while back, a post on Bob Sutton’s “Work Matters” blog led me your way.
I’m glad I found you. Your blog is great fodder for the mind, a total must-read. I’m always a little disappointed on the days you don’t post, but as someone who also writes for a living, I understand the occasional break.
I’m embarrassed to say I haven’t yet read “The Year Without Pants,” but a signed copy would be so cool. And hey, if I’m too late for that, I’ll pick up a copy at Amazon.
Keep up the wonderful work, Scott…your work sticks and it makes a difference.
Darn. I missed it. This is what I get for not checking my emails obsessively!
Check the (not so) fine print – I’ll give a bunch away at random to people who commented. You’re in!
Awesome, thanks Scott!
I really enjoyed the book, but I read it on my e-reader and would love to have a signed copy, especially if signed to my name.
I had a couple of jobs where we were allowed to work remote one or two days a week, but this really shed light on what it might be like to work remote all the time, and with a team that is not even close to you geographically.
Love your creativity and body of work!
I read ” Mindfire” and it had impacted a lot of my actions. Would love to get a signed copy.
not firsties but I’ll throw my name into the hat! Loved the book, would love having one to give to friends.
You rock, Scott. Even though I haven’t left any meaningful comments here until now, please know I read your updates when they’re hot off the (word)press. The work that you are doing is inspiring to many people. And it means a lot to me. Fill that shelf! — DA
Thanks David – and kudos for leaving your first comment. Hope it’s not the last.
Will light a candle in the church- or in my case temple, If I get a signed copy.
Other than that – I am a big fan and never miss any of your posts. “Mindfire” specifically was awesome..
—Don’t look at me that way. Bribery has been shown to work sometimes :)
You made me smile which works even better than bribery does.
I have all of your books. Got this one on the kindle so having a signed copy would be awesome!!
I am looking forward to your future works.
Hi Scott! I have been enjoying your work and this blog is a frequent stop for me. Your empty bookshelf post was particularly inspiring. I frequently wish I had the singular focus to accomplish a specific goal. Good luck on future endeavors and I hope to someday hear you speak (I live in Nebraska, so it may be a long shot).
Scott, big fan of your work… Would love a signed copy as well!
First discovered you from your Ted talk – Saving Your Creative Soul, and have been an avid follower of your talks/blogs/books ever since. I loved this book. I now work in an environment where the idea of working remotely, autonomously, and having open/transparent communication as an organization (we use #slack) are actually in play. It was amazing to gain exposure to these concepts for the first time through your blogs and book, and have those manifest into my daily life.
I know I missed the 10 comment window, but would love a signed copy if there are any extra :)
Thanks for the comment Joy and glad you found me. I’m not familiar with #slack but I’ll check it out.
I just finished reading the e-book but would love to give a copy to my manager/team. This book was fantastic! One of your best.
Sounds good – very glad to hear you enjoyed the book.
I guess the ideas on the book can help me to solve my communication problems withi my little projects. I had printed copy of Mindfire and I love it.
Good luck to the winners and the best for all of you.
Scott, like Pavlov’s dogs responding to a bell, I jump to leave a comment in the hopes of getting a signed copy. Unlike a lab rat or a test pigeon, I will not continuously send comments until I receive a reward. (You don’t have to thank me.)
Keep on thinking and writing.
Be well!
Ahh awesome. Love your books and I’ve been meaning to pick up Year Without Pants for a while now!
Thanks!
Of course I missed the top 10, but I have your book, reading now, and loving it!
I’ll give some additional signed copies away to anyone who comments, so you’re in the running.
Glad you’re enjoying the book – hope you like the rest of it.
Awesome to hear about the possibility of being a random winner. I’ve been curious about the Year Without Pants (and it’s hard to write that without it sounding very wrong.) If nothing else, it’s an opportunity to state how much I got out of The Myths of Innovation and what I continue to get from your writing about writing. Thank you for doing what you do. You’re one of the few people who I actively follow with my RSS reader.
But since I already have a signed copy of The Myths of Innovation perhaps I’m just being greedy.
Hi Scott,
Call me a Vulcan, but: You forgot to say what to comment on. To me “comment” is a dangling modifier or something.
Meanwhile, speaking of winning contests, it is relevant that an author you have mentioned before, Po Bronson (and Ashley Merryman) has come out with a book I just started today called Top Dog, the science of winning and losing. They say as the odds go down, motivation goes down… but nonetheless, here’s my comment.
I recommend Po’s book to you. (and your readers) Besides obvious stuff, with 79 trade pages of selected sources and references, it has lots of counter intuitive, gender, and neuro-physiological data.
I have TYWP on my Amazon UK wish list waiting for the Kindle price to get much closer to the US dollar price—works out at over £3 more. What’s with that? On the subject of giveaways, postage on ebooks is very reasonable.
Regards,
Roger
I have way too many books to read still, and still 20 in my amazon shopping cart… Yours will be read, eventually…
Scott, just wanted to say I love reading your books, comments and opinions (not that I agree with all of them). I have used a lot of your content to spark conversations with my peers, which has been very insightful and fun. Keep up the good work and keep challenging the status quo. Keep putting out in the world what you gleam from your insights and experience, it is appreciated.
Hi Scott, I’m a huge fan of your work. It would be great to get a signed copy as well!
Big fan of your work, wouldn’t say no to a signed copy.
I have read two of your books, The Myths of Innovations, and Confessions of a Public Speaker. And did a lot of note-taking too from both. Would have loved to have a signed copy of your latest book. But alas, I live in India.
Not even close to first 10, but I enjoyed Confessions and I bet this one is great, too. Thanks for hosting this giveaway!
Scott, I’d love a copy of your new book! I teach creative thinking and truly appreciate your work in this area. Your work has been helpful, enlightening, and entertaining in my quest to learn and expand my own thinking. Always enjoy reading your posts and hope you will continue. Thanks again.
